SFCM is proud to present violinist Rachel Barton Pine in her first Nebraska performances. Pine performs worldwide as a concerto soloists, but she is also an ardent baroque specialist. She and her fellow Chicago collaborators will perform a lively French program on period instruments (baroque violin, viola di gamba, and harpsichord). The trio  was formed after the musicians came together in 1996 to record the violin sonatas of George Frederick Handel.They have since released several recording on Cedille Records to high critical acclaim.
Rachel Barton Pine will also appear as violin soloist with LSO the day before our concert.

Enso String Quartet Enso String Quartet
With a 2010 Grammy nomination for “Best Chamber Music Performance,” the Enso String Quartet has quickly become one of the country’s most accomplished and innovative quartets on the scene. Shortly after the group’s inception at Yale University in 1999, Enso took prizes at the Banff International String Quartet Competition and won the Concert Artists Guild International Competition. The quartet’s concerts have been highlighted praised for their “edge-of-the-seat vitality few groups maintain throughout a performance”, “thrillingly athletic performance”, and “neat, well balanced and lyrical…lively and intelligent” playing.

Moran Woodwind Quintet Moran Wind Quintet
SFCM welcomes UNL’s woodwind ensemble-in-residence, the Moran Wind Quintet as the spring concert opener. Now in its 25th year, the group performs frequently throughout the Midwestern and Southern states, as well as several music academic conventions. Their discography includes four recordings with an emphasis on American wind music and the works of the early 20th century German composer Theodor Blumer.

Cuarteto latinamericano Cuarteto latinamericano
Founded in Mexico in 1981, Cuarteto latinamericano is the leading proponent of Latin American music for string quartet. Three members are brothers; all follow the mission to spread Latin American chamber music to the world. They have performed with major orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Seattle Symphony, the National Arts Center Orchestra in Ottawa, as well as at such venues as the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, and at La Scala. The quartet has recorded more than 60 cds.

Robert Walters, Jr. and the Jasper String Quartet Robert Walters, Jr. and the Jasper String Quartet
Robert Walters, Jr. grew up in Lincoln, studying oboe and attending LFCM concerts at Sheldon. He went on to study at the Curtis Institute of
Music then subsequently served as principal oboe/English horn for the Metropolitan Opera and currently the Cleveland Orchestra.
He was recently appointed as oboe faculty chair at Oberlin College. Robert will be joined by his Oberlin colleagues, the Jasper String
Quartet, which just began its residency there. Jasper has recently won a string of American competitions and is delighted to join Robert in a concert of oboe and English horn quintets.
